In inner cities in the US there is more poverty (as a proportion of the population) than in mid-sized cities or small towns.

Do we have a definitive answer as to why this is?

  • $\begingroup$ Cities are where there are more economic opportunities. So at least in the developing world, the poor move to cities and form slums. I don't know though if the same reasoning applies to the US. $\endgroup$ – Kenny LJ Jun 26 '17 at 2:36
