I do not have any formal training in mathematics. Most of my mathematical knowledge results from studying economics and from a personal interest in finance and actuarial mathematics. My interest in mathematics results from enjoying mathematicizing problems I encounter at work (consulting).
Unfortunately, neither at work nor privately do I know anybody that shares my interest in stochastic processes and probability. That's why I think math.stackexchange is a really cool site that provides me with access to the kind of people I do not encounter in everyday life. However, to people trained in mathematics, physics or engineering my questions probably appear imprecise and not fully thought through.
